Reminder: Bullying Policy

GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AT CITY COUNCIL & TOWN HALL MEETINGS

In an effort to hear as many viewpoints as possible within the limited time available, the city council asks citizens to:

  • Refrain from side conversations while the meeting is in progress.

  • Wait until the Mayor/Facilitator invites citizen comment on an agenda item. Please raise your hand to indicate you wish to speak. Each citizen may address the Council ONCE on any agenda item.

When it is your turn to speak:

  • Please clearly state your First and Last name.

  • City Council members pledge to be respectful and open to citizens that appear before them and expect citizens to do the same.

  • Concisely state your point, and keep your comments limited to 3 minutes. A timer will be used.

  • When acknowledged, if previous speakers have made the same point you were prepared to address, please tell the Mayor/Facilitator that your question/comment has been covered.

  • If you plan to present a handout, please give a copy to the City Recorder for distribution to the council.

  • Bullying will not be tolerated. If bullying begins during a council meeting, the gallery will be excused, and the council will continue in executive session.   If Bullying takes place during a townhall, the meeting will immediately end, and everyone must leave the building immediately.

  • Citizens who wish to submit lengthy or detailed testimony which may exceed the 3- minute time limit are encouraged to provide their comments in writing at least 1 week in advance allowing Council members time to review the information provided. Materials can be dropped into the black mailbox outside the city office or emailed to office@cityofmaywoodpark.com

If you have additional points or feel more comfortable communicating your thoughts in writing please submit your correspondence to the City Council at 10100 NE Prescott St., Suite 147, Maywood Park, OR 97220 or email to office@cityofmaywoodpark.com and it will be distributed to the Council and made a part of the public record.
